Nikki Blanford, LSCW
I decided on a path of social work and clinical therapy after my grandparents were in hospice. I found myself needing support in a way that I had never experienced. The therapist that supported me showed kindness and empathy and I soon knew that I wanted to help others on their journey. I found my way to working in hospice and helping individuals through their grief by providing education and normalization, but also using clinical expertise to help people move through their grief in a healthy way.
I spent time working with blood cancer patients and their families providing therapeutic support while navigating a serious illness. I supported caregivers through the difficulties of caregiving while empowering them to also prioritize caring for themselves.

These incredible experiences led me to the path of providing individual therapy to clients from ages 13 through the life span. I received both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in social work from Metropolitan State University of Denver. I spent time during my schooling as a research Assistant doing research on palliative care in our community, and this has continued to be a passion of mine. I provide therapy both virtually and in-person, treating depression, anxiety, mood disorders, disordered eating and body image issues, grief, and therapy specialized for older adults, and life transitions. I use multiple therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing, person-centered approach, and solution focused approach. I also incorporate mindfulness into my sessions.
Outside of my work as a therapist, I am a Colorado native who enjoys this beautiful state. I enjoy spending time in nature hiking and exploring and often refer to myself as "solar powered." I love animals and find that they bring me an immense amount of joy and contentment. My Australian Shepherd, Cooper and Sookie, my Sphynx cat, often join me in my telehealth sessions. I also have a Shih Tzu (Luna) and a cat (Milo) who complete my animal family.
